Wedding hairstyles

Updos and waves for a wedding, with photos from the back and side to show your stylist at the trial.

Wedding hair is usually worn up, or worn down with shape. The Low Chignon is rolled and pinned at the nape, soft at the front, with a clear line of pins above the bun where a veil comb can sit. The Sleek Low Bun is the tighter version, smoothed back from a centre part and pinned. The Half-Up Half-Down knot ties the top section back and leaves the length down.

Side-Part Hollywood Waves are curled in one direction, left to set, then brushed out into deep S-shaped waves from a side part. They take forty-five to ninety minutes, most of it setting time, and last longer the longer the curls are left to cool.

For a bride, book a trial with the stylist and bring the veil or hair accessory to it, so its place is set before the day. Show the photos of the back and the side as well as the front: those are the angles guests see during the ceremony.
