Low Fade
Short • Curly
The Low Fade takes the sides down to skin from just above the ear, so a band of skin shows; the taper only shortens the edges.
A low taper fade shortens the hair only at the sideburns and the neckline, close to the skin at the very edge, and blends it up within a few centimetres. The rest of the sides keep their length. It is also called a low taper or a taper fade, and it works on every hair texture.
The low taper fade cleans up the edges and leaves everything else alone. The hair is taken short only around the sideburns and at the back of the neck, then blended quickly into the length on the sides, so there is no band of skin above the ear. The top can be any length; here it is about 5 cm, textured and pushed up. Because so little is cut short, it grows out evenly and looks tidy for three to four weeks.
“A low taper fade: take only the sideburns and the neckline short, close to the skin at the edge, and keep the length on the sides.”
The taper softens after three to four weeks. The top can keep growing.
