Curly hairstyles for men

Cuts that work with curls instead of against them. Each style lists the textures it suits and how it grows out.

Curly hair changes what a cut does, because the curl takes up length and holds a shape on its own. The Low Fade keeps the curls on top and takes the sides to skin from just above the ear, and needs a refresh every two to three weeks. The Low Taper Fade shortens only the sideburns and the neckline, so the curls on the sides stay, and lasts three to four weeks.

Longer cuts let the curl show. The Wolf Cut layers the crown short and keeps the back longest, and the Modern Mullet keeps a long back that waves and curls shape, over short tapered sides. The High-Top Fade suits tighter curls and coils, from 3c to 4c, grown tall and cut into a flat-topped block.

Styling takes one to five minutes: curl cream or a curl sponge for the Low Fade, sea salt spray for the Modern Mullet, and a pick each morning for the High-Top Fade.
